In Collaboration with QuickDraw Animation Society

Through the vast experience of Anne Lalancette, puppeteer and filmmaker from Montreal, and in the style of the shows “Arctic Tall Tales” from her company La ruée vers l’or and “The Storyville Mosquito” where she performs along Kid Koala, the participants will be invited to create their own short film, from foam scraps and miscellaneous objects. In this 5 days workshop, they will do some exploration, adapt one of their own stories, write a script, draw a storyboard, learn how to use cameras and lighting equipment, shoot, foley and edit their very own short film.
About the Artist
Anne Lalancette is a Montreal-based puppeteer, director, and creator who discovered puppetry in 2004 after completing a screenwriting certificate at UQÀM. Mentored by Chilean puppet master Sergio Barros, she crafted her first string puppet, igniting a lifelong passion for the art form.
In 2006, Anne co-founded Princesse Patate with Anne Brulotte-Légaré, debuting their show Le grand cirque minuscule at the Just for Laughs Festival. The show toured extensively in schools, libraries, and daycare centers across Greater Montreal and gained international acclaim at the Festival Internacional Cervantino in Mexico.
Anne has collaborated with leading puppetry companies, including The Old Trout Puppet Workshop, contributing to The Erotic Anguish of Don Juan and the National Film Board short film From Naughty to Nice. She co-created Le déchiqueteur with Théâtre de la Pire Espèce, performing at major festivals such as Phénomena and Vue sur la Relève.
In 2015, Anne co-founded La ruée vers l’or with Alexandre Harvey, focusing on table puppetry paired with live music and sound. Their shows Pommes de route and Racontars arctiques have been performed worldwide, with Racontars arctiques earning critical acclaim and a Critics’ Awards nomination.
Anne has directed award-winning productions such as Beaver Dreams and Chaos Coco and worked on musicals like Kid Koala’s The Storyville Mosquito. Her television work includes puppeteering and voicing characters in the beloved series Passe-Partout and other productions like Les Hipaloulas.
