Serious Play

Clown offers a unique way to access the imagination. During the workshop participants will cultivate the freedom to be zany and go for the unknown. Individual and group activities will give participants the chance to practice listening, following impulses and developing a sense of play. 

Prerequisites: You do not need to be a performer to take this workshop. Folks with many different life experiences can find freedom and pleasure when engaging with clown techniques. All clown-curious are welcome. 

About Jaqueline

Jacqueline Russell (she/her) is a dynamically disabled director, performer, creator, arts educator, clown, and certified yoga instructor from Mohkínstsis (YYC) on Treaty Seven territory. She has taught workshops in clown, physical theatre, and creation across the country, from Comox to Montreal. As a performer and creator, she has contributed to many new works. She is particularly drawn to theatrical investigations that playfully examine gender, feminism, and disability.
